The Trainwreck Known As Brian McLaren's Theology

He's deconstructed hell, believes salvation is more of an 'opt-out' plan (Universalism), is absolutely certain that no one can be certain about anything - and he's just getting warmed up.

Pastor Jeff Whittaker reports on his visit to Brian McLaren's "Everything Must Change" Tour:

"Everything Must Change" conference held at Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana with emergent church leader Brian McLaren. I sat through session after session listening to the emergent "gospel;" complete with medieval chants and choruses of despair, apologies to the Native American Indians of the St. Joseph River Valley, as well as to "Mother Earth" for scarring her through our mining and oil drilling operations. The sarcasm with which traditional Scriptural positions were discussed, coupled with repeated swipes at Christians who were (in McLaren's opinion) waiting to be "snatched away," "evacuated," or "beamed up," brought one particular Scripture passage constantly to my heart and mind. 2 Peter 3:3-13 captures the essence of the conference: "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers..."

Trainwreck indeed. That took a lot of energy to read through those reports.

As Paul said, "Evil men and imposters will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived." (2 Tim. 3:13)

McLaren is certainly a deceived man - and I'm wondering if we've seen the full depth of his deception yet?
After reading those reports it makes me wonder what Brian will come up with next?

I believe in Reformation, but I'm not convinced Brian does, or perhaps we disagree over its meaning and implication.

By the time his "change" has occurred, it will be time for more "change," and then more "change," and then more "change." This is scary.

I'm pretty sure there's a way to change our methods without changing the gospel.
